Rifleman 17/1344, Herbert McWilliams

Herbert McWilliams, was born in Ahoghill, Antrim, Ireland in 1897, the son of Thomas McWilliams and Ellen Ervine. Herbert the second of five children, was brother to Elizabeth Roberta, Norman Thomas, Gladys and John.

Rifleman 17/1344, Herbert McWilliams, 8th Royal Irish Rifles, enlisted in Belfast.

9 July, 1915. Sydney, NSW, Australia. Private 602, Edward Samuel Bridgement, enlisted

Edward Samuel Bridgement, known to his family and friends as Ted, was born in Kent Street, Sydney, Australia on 25th of May 1896, son of Edward Samuel Bridgement and Annie Josephine Gillham. Ted, the fourth of seven children, was brother to Annie Josephine, Ethel Sarah (died young, before Ted was born), Vivian Doris, Ada Anna (my maternal grandmother), Charles Anthony, and Mary Teresa (died young).

Ted a bricklayer by trade, enlisted on the 9th of July, 1915 in Sydney, NSW, Australia.




Private 602 E.S. Bridgement embarked HMAT "Beltana" on 9 November 1915 at Sydney and disembarked at Suez on 11 December 1915
